Here is a brief roundup of conferences focused on the ecology and biology of sharks and their relatives, each with varying degrees of academic orientation. The emphasis naturally shifts across events - some leaning more toward conservation, fisheries science, or market forensics.

This year's conference is just around the corner, starting on July 9.

Japanese Society of Elasmobranch Studies - biennial conference to be held this year, normally in December

The American society included above was commenced after this Japanese society, I heard.

Oceanian Chondrichthyan Society - held every year, at variable seasons

This year's conference just finished several days ago.

European Elasmobranch Association - held every year, basically

Sharks International - held once in 4 years, with the next one in May 2026 in Sri Lanka and the last one in Brasil in 2018

International Basking Shark Conference - held for the first time in 2025?

International Whale Shark Conference - held roughly one in 3 years with the last one in Ningaloo, Australia in 2019, after 2016 in Doha, Qatar.
